WHERE

This interactive workshop will be online (2.5 hours). A Zoom link will be sent out after we have reached the minimum numbers for registration.

Safeguarding is a minimum requirement standard in sport and in order for UK Deaf Sport to approve National Deaf Sports organisations this is a compulsory course that must be completed by members of governing committees and key volunteers and coaches who are part of clubs and groups.

It is essential for everyone involved in delivering sport to children and adults that they are prepared for any future eventualities by attending this workshop.

This is an interactive session ( 2.5 hours)

The workshop will be delivered by an experienced UK Coaching tutor who is deaf and will be using BSL, for this course there will be no interpreting for non-signers.

By the end of the session you will be able to:

  • identify and recognise good practice and the implication for your club/organisation
  • refresh your knowledge around safeguarding issues, what to do and what not to do.
  • Explore your values and feelings about child abuse, and recognise the potential impact on your response
  • take appropriate action if concerns about a child arise
  • learn from a pick the brains of our expert tutor who has lived safeguarding experience.

This session is suitable for:

  • The lead person in your club/organisation for wellbeing and safeguarding.
  • Committee members of your club/ organisation.
  • Activity coaches and volunteers working with children and young people.
  • Other people interested in running their club/ organisation safely.
